COUCH TO 5K – WEEK 4

Jun
27

So, I guess I’m running now!?!?! I made it through week 3′s 3-minute runs, and now it’s on to week 4. The walking intervals are getting less and less already!

Here’s week 4′s agenda:
– Brisk 5-minute warmup walk
– Jog 3 minutes, then walk for 90 seconds
– Jog 5 minutes, then walk for 2 1/2 minutes
– Repeat both intervals twice for a total of 20 minutes
– 5-minute cool-down walk

Let’s tackle those intervals together!

COUCH TO 5K – WEEK 3

Jun

I am really proud of myself and the fact that I can run for 90 seconds at a time now! I’m ready to tackle week 3′s workouts and keep building up my stamina.

C25K week 3 program:
– Brisk 5-minute warmup walk
– Jog for 90 seconds, then walk for 90 seconds
– Jog for 3 minutes, then walk for 3 minutes
– Repeat both intervals twice for a total of 20 minutes
– 5-minute cool-down walk

Run for 3 minutes? I think I can!

COUCH TO 5K – WEEK 2

Jun
13

Well, I made it through week 1! Those 60-second runs seemed like an eternity, but now that I’ve made it through my first week, I’m ready to brave week 2.

Here’s the workout for week 2:
– Brisk 5-minute warmup walk
– Alternate 90 seconds of jogging with 2 minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes
– 5-minute cool-down walk

Who’s running with me?

COUCH TO 5K – WEEK 1

Jun
06

I’ve NEVER been able to run in my life! I’ve always had the tendency to get side stitches right away (like 30 seconds in to the run), and just never picked it up.

I’m following Cool Running’s Couch to 5K program, listening to Robert Ullrey’s Podcasts For Running, and using the Nike+ GPS app to track my progress.

Here’s the workout schedule for week 1:
– Brisk 5-minute warmup walk
– Alternate 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes
– 5-minute cool-down walk

Here goes nothing…

GET FIT WITH COUCH TO 5K

Jun
05

I am determined to get fit and lose weight. One of my friends from high school started posting about her journey on Couch to 5K (C25K). This piqued my interest, and I did some online research and found the C25K program on Cool Running’s website.

In a nutshell, the program breaks down intervals of walking and running three days a week for 9 weeks, so that by the end of the program you will be able to run roughly 30 minutes (or 5K) without stopping. I am going to be using Robert Ullrey’s Podcasts For Running to follow the program, and will be using the Nike+ GPS app on my iPhone to track my progress.

Join me in on my journey to my first 5K!
